Nuneaton and Bedworth’s Borough Plan has been given the green light by the Government Planning Inspector and is set for the final stages before adoption.
The Plan provides a blueprint for the future of the Borough, creating a framework for the development of homes, jobs and leisure for the next decade and beyond.
The Planning Inspector has written to the Council to confirm that he is satisfied with the main modifications put forward, that the Plan is robust and that it meets all statutory requirements. It will now be considered by the Overview and Scrutiny Panel before being reported to Full Council at the earliest opportunity.
Cllr Neil Phillips, portfolio holder for Planning and Development said:
“I am delighted that the Borough Plan has been approved by the Planning Inspector and that the Council can now take the final steps to getting it adopted.
“It has taken an enormous amount of time to reach this stage, far more than anyone could have anticipated at the beginning of the process. I would like to thank the officers concerned for the work they have put in to get us to this stage and also residents for their valuable contributions. This is a significant document for the Borough and it was important that we invested the time to get it right.
“Once adopted, the Plan will pave the way for new homes for residents, plus investment in our towns that will bring new jobs, leisure and sporting facilities.”
