Future High Street Fund bid for Nuneaton
Published on Friday, 22nd March 2019
Nuneaton town centre is amongst those being considered for a slice of the new £675 million Future High Streets Fund.
The Fund, which has been set up by the Government to help town centres adapt to change, offers contributions towards capital projects that bring transformation, with initial expressions of interest being required by Friday 22nd March 2019.
A submission for Nuneaton has been put forward by the Borough Council, with support from Warwickshire County Council, the West Midlands Combined Authority and other key partners and stakeholders.
We feel the Transforming Nuneaton programme fits the Fund criteria perfectly and offers various projects that can be started immediately funding is available.
Cllr Julie Jackson, Leader of the Council said:
“We are really hopeful that our application will get short listed for stage 2 of the process. The Transforming Nuneaton programme is well established and has the support of all key partners. Now it’s simply a matter of investment.
“Locally we understand the enormous potential of Nuneaton town centre – we just hope that it is recognised within this bidding process.
It is anticipated that the Borough Council will be informed of the outcome of this initial stage in the process in July. If successful, a further more detailed submission will be required by the end of 2019.
