High Court Injunction update – notices of application are posted

Published on Monday, 11th March 2019

Notices have been posted to publicise the Council’s application for a high court injunction to protect its land from unauthorised traveller incursions.

The application has been prepared by the Borough Council in conjunction with Warwickshire County Council. It will be heard on 19 March 2019.

Cllr John Beaumont, Portfolio Holder for Housing, Health and Communities said:

“Notices are being posted at relevant sites and served on those individuals concerned who are known to us and named in the application, in accordance with the Order of Justice Ian Dove made on 22 February 2019.

“This is another step towards our court hearing, which is fast approaching - we’re hoping to secure the injunction so that we can better protect our land from these unauthorised traveller encampments that cause so much distress to the local community and cost the Council so much money.

“Once again, I would like to thank our residents for their patience on this matter. The application required considerable supporting evidence to be gathered over an extensive period of time and involved work with a specialist barrister.

“We will report on the outcome of the court hearing on 19 March".
