NBBC Supports Holocaust Memorial Day

Published on Sunday, 27th January 2019

Today is a national commemoration day which is dedicated to all those who suffered in The Holocaust under Nazi Persecution and in subsequent genocides in Cambodia, Rwanda, Bosnia and Darfur.

The date marks the anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz-Birkenau, the largest Nazi death camp.

Cllr Julie Jackson, Leader of Nuneaton and Bedworth Borough Council said:

“We give our support to this day of commemoration to honour all of those who were affected by the tragic events.  Holocaust Memorial Day is a chance for everyone to take time to learn about the Holocaust and remember the ones who suffered. Hopefully by doing so we will be able to help shape the future to be a safer place for all.

“We have arranged for leaflets to be available in the Town Hall for our residents to come and take if they wish.”

The Holocaust Memorial Day Trust (HMDT) are the charity that promotes and supports Holocaust Memorial Day in the UK, for more information visit their website at: https://www.hmd.org.uk/
