Council tenants celebrate Christmas in style whilst raising money for charity

Local tenants have once again been treated to a wonderful Christmas party thanks to the dedicated Council Independent Living team.
Since the service changed from Sheltered Housing to Independent Living in in May 2017 a Christmas party has been arranged every year by the team who meticulously organise the event in their own time.
This year’s party was a great success seeing many local companies donating generous raffle prizes which helped raise £620 for The Major’s charity ‘Doorway’.
Mrs Tina Hancox from Kingswood Court said:
“It was the first time I have been to one of the parties and it was absolutely amazing, the staff worked so hard and a lot of money was raised for charity, I cannot wait for next years.”
Mrs Gwyneth Chipchase from Blackatree Court said:
“Our scheme had a brilliant night, what a wonderful way to start the Christmas period”
Councillor Barry Longden, Portfolio Holder for Housing, Health and Communities said:
“Identifying the importance of bringing tenants together to encourage community spirit the Independent Living team organise this event in their own time and go to great lengths to ensure that everyone attending has a lovely evening. A big thank you goes out to all of the generous local businesses who donated prizes which helped raise such a fantastic amount of money for the Mayor’s charity.”
