Market cancelled due to strong winds

Published on Tuesday, 18th September 2018

Nuneaton’s regular street market has been cancelled for tomorrow, Wednesday 19 September 2018, due to strong winds.

With forecast wind gusts of up to 49mph, it is not safe to erect or operate from market stalls. Trading will be limited to just those regular market traders with perishable goods who are able to trade from their vehicles.

Cllr Julie Jackson, Leader of the Council said:

“The wind speeds forecast throughout the morning are way beyond the tolerance of our market stalls, so for safety reasons we have had no choice but to cancel.
“It is always disappointing when weather conditions prevent our regular market taking place but public safety is paramount, we can’t take risks; if stalls were to be blown over it would be very dangerous.”
