New look for Bedworth Market
Published on Thursday, 28th June 2018
Bedworth's traditional indoor market is being refurbished as part of plans to attract more visitors and make better use of the space available.
The outside of the building has already been improved with boarding and graphics, giving it a much smarter appearance; inside there’s a big clean in progress and the old stalls are being replaced with pop-ups that will be far more flexible, allowing the space to be better used.
The work is part of a larger project of investment in the Borough’s town centres, enhancing the shopping and visitor experience for all. Other improvements include the introduction of free town centre WiFi and new websites for our markets and town centres.
Bob Sidhu, Chair of the Market Traders Association said:
“Bedworth market is already looking much more inviting with its external improvements - and the plans for indoors are really good news.
“We have a fantastic asset here and the new flexible stalls will allow us to create a street market effect within a covered space.
“I hope that the improvements will encourage more people to visit us – I know that locals speak fondly of the market but its success depends on custom, so please visit regularly. You can be sure of a warm welcome and a lively atmosphere - check out our new website for details of opening times and special events.”
Cllr Julie Jackson, Leader of the Borough Council said:
“The outside of market looks really good and I’m delighted that we’ve found a way to make best use of the space inside.
“I have been going to the market since I moved to Bedworth at the age of five and I have a great fondness for it. As a regular customer I’m enjoying seeing the progress of the work and look forward to seeing the complete new look later in the summer.”
The work is expected to be finished by September and will take place on non-market days to avoid disruption for traders and customers.
Bedworth market is open on Tuesdays, Fridays and Saturdays. Find out more at the website www.nuneatonandbedworthmarkets.co.uk and keep an eye on our social media accounts, @NBBtowns.
