Making a noise about Noise Action Week

Every year the Council’s Environmental Protection Team challenges itself to come up with new initiatives to promote Noise Action Week, which takes place at the end of each May.

As part of this year’s initiative, the Council’s Environmental Protection Team donated confiscated audio equipment to the British Heart Foundation. The equipment was well received by the charity as a means of raising funds and also promoting the work of the British Heart Foundation charity shops in Nuneaton and Bedworth.

The Environmental Protection Team also used Noise Action Week as an opportunity to launch new guidelines on noise protection. The guidelines provide tenants with helpful hints on how to minimise noise and also avoid being a noisy neighbour themselves. They have been distributed to the Borough’s letting agents for issue to new Tenants when they take up their tenancies.

Melissa and Mariam of QT Homes Lettings welcomed the new guidance. She said:

‘Not everyone is aware of the effect that noise can have on their neighbours and, on the flip side, people are often unsure how to deal with noisy neighbours –  we think this leaflet is incredibly useful for everyone concerned, especially the step by step guide. We’re positive that it will help improve noise related issues – we’ll be including it in all of our new tenancy packs from now on to help raise awareness.’

Lisa Billing from the Environmental Protection Team meets staff from The British Heart Foundation and hands over the audio equipment that will be put to good use to raise money for the British Heart Foundation.
