Supporting the Jaguars!

Published on Tuesday, 24th April 2018

The Etone Jaguars American Football Academy is set for another successful season with a little help from the Passport to Leisure scheme.

The Scheme, which is run by the Borough Council and Everyone Active, continues to support fifteen talented athletes from across the Borough each year, providing athletes from grass-roots to international level with free-access (subject to terms and conditions) to Everyone Active’s leisure centres, enabling them to train to the best of their ability.

As the scheme approaches its third year, both organisations are working with the Etone Jaguars to offer free membership for their players to help to improve their performance both on and off the field.

Lawrence Grugeon, Etone Jaguar’s Chairman and Head Coach, said:

“The help the passport to performance scheme gives my young athletes is undeniable - to be able to train outside the Academy using the best facilities can only contribute to their continued development and push them to compete at the highest level possible.

“Just last month 17 of my Jags attended an international trial for the Great Britain U19 and U17 squads and I can honestly say the scheme has greatly contributed to this. I look forward to a long running relationship with the team at Everyone Active.”

Liam Moynihan, Community Engagement Manager at Everyone Active, said:

“We are committed to supporting local sporting talent, and I am delighted that we are able to offer support for the Etone Jaguars. We look forward to working with the team over the next year, and wish them all the best for the upcoming season.”

Dennis Harvey – Leader of the Council said:

“This is yet another successful partnership with our leisure operator to foster sporting talent and promote fitness within the Borough.

“Our passport to leisure scheme provides support to both individuals and community groups. We are pleased with the take up by so many local athletes and hope that this helps them in their future aspiring sporting careers.

“My very best wishes go to the Etone Jaguars for the forthcoming season – I am pleased that we are able to support them on the way.”
