Last Saturday’s Parkrun at The Miners Welfare Park, Bedworth attracted 130 runners, joggers and walkers.

No fewer than 31 new personal bests times were recorded over the 5k route, which attracts people from all walks of life and includes representatives from 21 different clubs.

There were 59 new participants on Saturday, which is testiment to the inspiration, hardwork and dedication of the 20 Parkrun volunteers. Race Director Claire Bradford said:

“We are really pleased with how the event has been supported by local residents and the number of people now taking part each week is steadily growing, with them taking part at their own pace. However, without the dedicated volunteers we would not be able to deliver this and my thanks goes to those who turn up week after week enabling the event to be delivered.

“Parkrun's motto is 'run, jog, walk or volunteer' – we hope that local people will be inspired by our efforts to encourage more residents to get active.”

The Miners Welfare Park Parkrun has put the Borough on the map with this activity now taking place throughout the Country. More information about the local parkrun can be obtianed from the web site link attached.

Cllr Dennis Harvey, Leader of the Council said:

“It is great to see so many local people taking part in physical activity and using the Borough’s park facilities.

“I hope the event goes from strength to strength in the coming spring and summer months and I’d like to thank all those volunteers supporting this event.”
