Storm Eleanor impacts Nuneaton Street Market
Published on Tuesday, 2nd January 2018
Nuneaton’s regular street market has been cancelled for tomorrow, Wednesday 3 January because of forecasts for high winds.
The Met Office has issued a weather warning with the approach of Storm Eleanor which will bring wind gusts that exceed the safe tolerance for market stalls.
Those regular market traders with perishable goods have been invited to trade from vehicles if they wish to do so and we’re expecting a reduced market to operate.
Alan Franks, Managing Director of the Council said:
“Storm Eleanor has impacted the regular street market in Nuneaton, along with many others across the country.
“It is always unfortunate when weather conditions prevent our market traders from operating as normal, but public safety is absolutely paramount. Understandably shoppers will be disappointed, but I am sure that most people will share our concerns about the dangers of market stalls being blown over.”
