Nuneaton leads the way with exciting new sport!
Published on Friday, 25th March 2016
Riversley Park in Nuneaton will soon be home to the County’s first official Footgolf Course recognised by the UK Footgolf Association.
Footgolf is one of the fastest growing sports in the UK, bringing together the sports of golf and football. It’s very similar to traditional golf but rather than using clubs and a golf ball, you use a football and your own feet. The course is suitable for people of all ages and abilities and fun for the whole family.
The new course, which utilises the pitch and putt at Riversley Park, has been developed through a partnership between the Borough Council and Nuneaton Harriers Community Association.
Anyone can use the course - hire of equipment and purchase of score cards will be from the kiosk at the Pingles Athletics Stadium which is located just next to the main Pingles Leisure Centre. Local schools and colleges will be able to take advantage of the new facility too and local competitions and leagues will be developed.
The official opening of the course will take place on Sunday 17 April 2016 at midday.
“The new footgolf course in Riversley Park will be a great asset for use by the wider community. As part of the Council’s drive to increase opportunities for residents to participate in more physical activity, footgolf offers something new and exciting. Once again, the Borough is leading the way with new sporting ideas. We’re always keen to try something different that might appeal to a new sector of the community - our mobile climbing wall is another example of our innovative approach to sport. There’s something to encourage everyone to get active here in Nuneaton and Bedworth.”

“We are sure this new activity will prove very popular with a wide range of local residents. It’s great to have new activities in the park for the whole family, especially with the summer and lighter nights not too far away. We look forward to visiting the facility in the coming months and see families enjoying this sport”.
