Since the trail opened in February 2022, it has been used a total of 67,849 times, an average of 3,571 a month.
Cllr Julian Gutteridge, Portfolio Holder for Health and Environment, said:
“I was delighted to be able to attend what was a fantastic day.
“It was great to see so many people enjoying the tracks, and hopefully may have encouraged some people who may not have used the track before to do so.’’
The BMX club is based and trains at the Greenmoor Road Recreation Ground in Nuneaton and will benefit from new floodlights at its headquarters.
Cllr Sue Markham, Portfolio Holder for Public Services, said:
“This was a superb day at the track in Bedworth.
“It is excellent news that this winter, for the first time, with support from British Cycling Places to Ride, Nuneaton and Bedworth Borough Council, Warwickshire County councillors, Sport England, Heart of England and UK Shared Prosperity Fund, Nuneaton BMX Club will be able to hold coaching at the track due to the installation of new floodlights at the Greenmoor Road Recreation Ground in Nuneaton.’’
Sarah Albrighton, of Nuneaton BMX Club, said:
“Club members were delighted to support the council and Get Active For Life at the MTB trails event.
“It's fabulous to see varied cycling opportunities in the Borough especially where more and more children and adults can enjoy the free facilities at a time that suits them.’
“Although they're different cycling disciplines, BMX and MTB riders share many skills and often transfer them from the trails to the tracks enabling them to become confident in both disciplines. Get in touch with the club via Facebook for more information.’’
