Public consultation on Gypsy and Traveller Site Allocations Development

Published on Wednesday, 30th August 2023

The Borough Council is undertaking a six-week public consultation on modifications to its Gypsy and Traveller Site Allocations Development Plan Document (DPD).

The DPD sets out a plan to provide sufficient sites to meet the Gypsy, Traveller and Travelling Showpeople needs from 2021 to 2037.

As part of the examination process, amendments to the DPD have been agreed with the Inspector. These amendments have been split into two categories, ‘Main’ and ‘Additional’ modifications.

‘Main’ modifications are those recommended by the Inspector to make the DPD sound and legally compliant, and ‘Additional’ modifications are those which do not materially affect the Policies in the DPD, but which are generally minor factual updates; corrections of any errors or which are considered necessary for clarity.

The consultation will begin on Monday, 4 September and related documents and response forms can be found on our dedicated webpage.

Hard copies of the documents are also available for inspection at Nuneaton Town Hall, Coton Road, Nuneaton CV11 5AA, Monday to Friday between 10:00am and 2:00pm. If you wish to make an appointment or speak to a Planning Policy Officer please call 02476 376288.

Comments can be made by emailing or in writing to the Town Hall address above using the title, Planning Policy - Gypsy and Traveller Site Allocations DPD.

Cllr Richard Smith, Portfolio Holder for Planning and Regulation, said:

“We really want as many views as possible to help us make informed decisions, please get in touch and let us know your thoughts.”
