Nuneaton and Bedworth backs Lionesses

Council leader urges the Borough to enjoy the Lionesses' World Cup Final appearance.

Nuneaton and Bedworth Borough Council leader Cllr Kris Wilson has issued a rallying cry for the Borough to back the Lionesses all the way to World Cup Final glory.

And to support the celebrations, licensees are urged to seek approval for any change to their licence before Sunday morning for the big game between England and Spain, which kicks off at 11:00am BST in Sydney, Australia.

Cllr Wilson said:

“We have all been excited to see an England football team winning matches at a big tournament and now the Lionesses are within reach of the greatest prize of all.

“I know it’s not just football fans from our area who will be urging them on and I hope everyone gets the chance to enjoy the excitement of Sunday’s game.

“We intend to play our part by being as flexible as we can to allow public places such as bars and cafes to enable people to enjoy watching the game with their friends and neighbours wherever possible.

“I know our licensing chair Cllr Rob Tromans will be ready to work with local police and licensees wherever we can to enable this to happen.

“We want to do everything we can to make sure people across the country can come together to support the team, enjoy the match and celebrate their success, whatever the outcome.

“Come on, England.”
