An exhibition at Nuneaton Museum and & Art Gallery dedicated to the centenary of legendary town comedian Larry Grayson is proving to be a popular attraction.

The 'Wiv Luv Larry' display which opened at the Riversley Park building last month and runs until Sunday, 3 September, has already seen 3,500 visitors, coming from as far afield as Peterborough, Preston, and Richmond.

Comments have included:

“Loved Larry. Great exhibition, made us smile.’’

“What a fantastic exhibition, well worth our journey.’’

“Oh my goodness, I think this is the best display you’ve ever put on. I loved it, thank you.”

“We are privileged a comic who was kind to members of the public on his gameshows, rest easy Larry.”

Many have remarked that they have viewed photographs of Larry they have never seen before.

The memories corner has also attracted attention with visitors leaving their memories of meeting Larry as varied as selling him donuts or when fitted his carpet.

Cllr Sue Markham, Portfolio Holder for Public Services, said:

“These visitor figures are brilliant and show what high esteem Larry Grayson is still held in as the centenary of his birth approaches.

“There are still several weeks left for people to see this fantastic exhibition and I would urge everyone to go along to the museum.’’

To further honour Larry Grayson, the newest development in Abbey Street is named Grayson Place in homage to him.

The vision for Grayson Place is to create a vibrant new cultural and leisure destination for the local community.
