Celebrate World Migratory Birds Day at Nuneaton Museum & Art Gallery
Published on Tuesday, 9th May 2023

Join us as at our ‘Hands on History’ event, ‘On the Wing' on Saturday, 13 May.
Come to Nuneaton Museum & Art Gallery and get hands-on with museum objects featuring birds at our session.
From ceramics and textiles to decorative headpieces, we will be exploring a range of bird-related objects from around the world.
Find out how birds feature in many art forms and how native birds are celebrated by different cultures.
Our ‘Hands on History’ events represent a unique opportunity to handle some of the wonderful artefacts from the Museum’s collections.
The sessions are free and there is no need to book. Drop in anytime between 11am and 4pm in the Picture Gallery.
Cllr Sue Markham, Portfolio Holder for Public Services at Nuneaton and Bedworth Borough Council, said:
“The Museum’s handling sessions enable visitors to feel the excitement of real history in their hands.”
While at the Museum, why not take a look at our temporary exhibitions that also feature birds?
The ‘Festival of Arts: Photography Section’ is a show of fantastic photographs taken by talented entrants and this year features a section called ‘Our Feathered Friends’.
‘Wild Colour!, created by Blue Tokay, is a brand-new exhibition combining stunning photographs of animals with the science of colour and features several birds.
‘Where Did You Get That Hat?’ is a fun and interactive exhibition exploring the diverse range of headwear in the Museum’s collection.
Can you spot any that are decorated with bird feathers?
