A new awards proposal to honour members of the community

Published on Tuesday, 29th November 2022

Residents will soon have their say on who should be put forward for Civic Honours if a new council proposal gets the go-ahead.

If the suggested proposals are approved by Cabinet, then members of the public will be able to nominate individuals for consideration by completing a simple form on the Council’s website.

This new community award system titled the Nuneaton and Bedworth Award of Merit, will be a permanent solution to rewarding those who have served Nuneaton and Bedworth with distinction.

The proposals have been made in a bid to broaden the nomination process, ensuring that the Council reward those in the community who truly make a difference.

The proposed changes will also liberate the specific categories as well as enabling members of the public to nominate easily.

Nuneaton and Borough Council Leader, Cllr Kris Wilson, said:

“Many people across the Borough contribute so much to our community and deserve recognition.

“This new system will mean that residents can shine a spotlight on the unsung heroes of Nuneaton and Bedworth and recognise those who have made a difference.”
