A litter pick in Nuneaton proved to be a huge success and made Riversley Park look a lot brighter.

More than 20 members of the Gadsby Grabbers group joined up with Nuneaton and Bedworth Borough Council’s Environmental Enforcement Officer for the pick.

Many of the Grabbers are part of Longhurst Group, who support young adults with a range of disabilities.

The pick, the third the Council and Longhurst Group teamed up for, came about after Emily Creedon, one of the group’s customers at a supported housing scheme in Nuneaton, launched the group and arranged a previous pick at the park.

Portfolio Holder for Public Services, Cllr Sue Markham, said:

“It was fantastic to take part in this litter pick with the Gadsby Grabbers and make Riversley Park look just that little bit better.

“We managed to collect several full bags of rubbish and it was a great all-round effort by all concerned.

“It's just a pity that some people discard their litter in the first place instead of putting it in the waste bins provided.’’
