Hands on History - ‘Sounds Familiar’

Published on Monday, 13th June 2022

Saturday, 18 June- Nuneaton Museum & Art Gallery. Drop in 11am to 4pm

Do you recognise that noise? Have you heard it before? Does it sound familiar?

Join us for this month’s Hands on History session to find out more. We have lots of objects in the Museum collection that are associated with sound. These range from an Underwood manual typewriter to a Philips radio, and an assortment of bells including a fire engine bell and a small prayer bell. Stop by, have a look, listen and feel, and see if you can work out why it sounds familiar?

Our Hands on History sessions are free and there is no need to book. Drop in anytime between 11am to 4pm in the Picture Gallery.

Cllr Sue Markham, Portfolio Holder for Public Services, said:

“The Museum’s Hands on History sessions create the perfect opportunity for people to find out about history through exploring and handling of real museum objects.”

Whilst at the Museum, why not also check out our vibrant exhibitions. Shadows in the Sun by Anne Guest explores the natural world through cyanotypes, the oldest photographic printing technique. North Warwickshire Developing Artists Group’s exhibition, ‘Painting Without Numbers’, showcases a wide variety of styles. Coventry and Warwickshire Society of Artists’ new exhibition opens on Saturday 18th June.

Do not forget our FREE Storytelling for Under 5s on Wednesday, 15 June. Join Melly between 11:15 am and 11:45am as he explores the changing of the seasons. Be prepared to join in, make some noise and have lots of fun. No booking required, just drop in. All children must be accompanied by an adult.
