Love is in the air

Published on Friday, 3rd February 2017

If you have a burning declaration of love and want to share it with the world, then drop into Nuneaton or Bedworth next week.

Retailers in both town centres are encouraging shoppers to pick up a postcard from participating shops and post a special message to their loved one in the pink post boxes at The Ropewalk Shopping Centre in Nuneaton and at the indoor market in Bedworth.

The post boxes will be emptied regularly up until Valentine’s Day and the most romantic messages may be broadcast to the world on social media and local radio. Everyone taking part in Nuneaton will be in with a chance of winning a £50 voucher to spend at The Fuzzy Duck Pub & Kitchen; those taking part in Bedworth could win tickets for a show at Bedworth Civic Hall.

It’s hoped that the campaign will mirror the success of the Borough’s popular Christmas Windows campaign, which has been credited with bringing in extra business for town centre shops.

The initiative has been organised by Amanda Bourne of Find-a-Discount and sponsored by The Fuzzy Duck Pub & Kitchen. Bedworth Civic Hall and NBBC are also providing support.

Amanda said:

“Romance is definitely in the air! Visitors to Nuneaton and Bedworth will get the chance to declare their love on the airwaves – it’s so exciting, we may even get a proposal or two! Valentine’s Day is good for local businesses and so our businesses want to make the experience for shoppers as exciting and romantic as possible.”
