Borough Elections – dates for your diary

On the 5 May 2022 Nuneaton and Bedworth Borough Council will be holding the Borough Elections.

In these elections you are voting for one Councillor to represent your ‘ward’ (local neighbourhood/area) on the local council.

These Councillors will get a say on some important things in your community including; recycling/waste, planning, local green spaces and council run facilities (such as sport centres and housing)

Your local council has an impact on many of the services you see and use every day. Choices made by the council will have visible impacts on your community, voting in these elections ensures that you’ve been part of choosing who makes these decisions.

The Borough Council are currently working hard to distribute nearly 100,000 poll cards. If you haven’t received a poll card by 3rd April, you might not be registered. You will need to visit gov.uk/registertovote to register before 14 April, it only takes a few minutes.

There will be 76 polling stations across the borough, with 315 people working on the election.

On 6th April the Council will publish the list of candidates standing for election on its website and the website here.

This year the count will be held at North Warwickshire College on Hinckley Road, Nuneaton.

You have several ways in which to vote; in person, by post or by proxy. You can cast your vote however it suits you.

Here are some key dates and deadlines for your diary

  • Register to vote - the last day to register to vote in May 2022 is Thursday 14 April 2022

  • The deadline to register for a postal vote is 5pm on Tuesday 19 April 2022

  • The deadline to appoint a proxy to vote on your behalf is 5pm on Tuesday 26 April 2022
