Winter Warmer project proves a hit at Nuneaton and Bedworth Museum and Art Gallery

Over half term week Nuneaton Museum & Art Gallery worked with local community regeneration project SAINTS to bring some creative fun to families.

In 2020 Nuneaton Museum & Art Gallery was awarded a grant of £2,040 from West Midlands Museum Development and Art Fund to develop a pilot activity for family audiences that have not been able to engage with the museum digitally during the pandemic.

Despite the project delivery being delayed by lockdowns, the Museum managed to work with an experienced artist to produce creative activity packs inspired by the Museum’s collections. The museum also worked in partnership with SAINTS, a local organisation supporting creative projects to alleviate poverty, to produce fantastic artist-led creative workshops.

This pilot project was created to help the Museum & Art Gallery and our partners establish new methods for future activity with local family audiences. During the pandemic and afterwards many families still do not have the means to access creative activities through digital platforms. The project also provided a fantastic opportunity for networking and exploring future collaborative partnership projects locally.

Councillor Kyle Evans, Portfolio Holder for Public Services said:

“This has been a wonderful opportunity for the Museum & Art Gallery to continue to diversify its audiences by taking a very creative approach. The Winter Warmer project offered fantastic creative enjoyment to local families as well as providing a great opportunity for future community partnership development.”
