Maintenance work taking place at Riversley Park play area
Published on Thursday, 4th November 2021
Maintenance work will be carried out on the Pyramid structure at Riversley Park play area for one week starting Monday 8 November.
The Borough Council and external contractors perform regular maintenance checks to ensure that equipment is safe. During one of these inspections, it was found that the pyramid structure in the play area and some platforms and bridges attached to it were showing signs of wear and tear. Therefore, some of the wooden posts, platform timber and walkways are being replaced.
In order to undertake the necessary repairs to the equipment and ensure public safety, the decision has been made to close a section of the play area whilst the work is taking place.
The equipment will be cordoned off from Monday 8 November for up to 7 days. The work is estimated to cost just over £25,000 but will ensure that the pyramid structure is safe and fit for use for another 5-10 years.
Cllr Julian Gutteridge, Portfolio holder for Health and Environment said:
“This closure is required to undertake necessary repair work to the pyramid structure. The work will ensure the safety of the equipment and make it fit for several years to come.
“We are sorry for any inconvenience the work may cause but I’m sure thar the public understand the need for the closure and our team will ensure to get the play area open again as soon as the work is complete.”
