Nuneaton and Bedworth Borough Council are supporting the Environment Agency’s advice on dealing with waste.
The law requires anyone dealing with waste to keep it safe. The SCRAP code provides an easy way to remember best practices to ensure unnecessary fines are avoided.
S – Suspect ALL waste carriers
C – Check with the Environment Agency on 03708 506 506 that they have a waste licence
R – Refuse unexpected offers to have waste taken away
A – Ask what will happen to your paperwork
P – Paperwork – always get a full receipt
Businesses for example are required to have a trade waste contract in place or pay legitimate waste companies to deal with it, ensuring it is kept separate from household waste. On the government website you can find details of the duty of care and code of practice regarding business.
Coventry City Council also offer a trade waste service on behalf of the Borough Council. Judkins household recycling centre has a pay as you go waste service which is offered to businesses.
