Fabulous fabric characters are taking centre-stage at Nuneaton Museum & Art Gallery this Autumn!
Intrigued by the fairy tales that inspired some of Shakespeare's greatest works, creative textile artist Leah Stuart returns to the museum following her successful 2019 debut. This year audiences will revel in the delightful results of a new ambitious project creating over a dozen 3D fabric characters.
Folklore and fairy tales, such as the original tragic tale of Pyramus and Thisbe, are brought into focus in Upstaged. Stuart presents to us a collection of intricate textile figures furnished in dramatic costume, wigs and masks.
Alongside this there will be a collection of framed freestyle machine-embroidered pieces retelling the stories of our characters.
Come and let your imagination take flight with Leah!
Councillor Kyle Evans, Portfolio Holder for Public Services said:
‘Everyone can relate to a well told story with its drama, pathos, humour and tragedy. This hugely creative exhibition by Leah Stuart will have a very broad appeal and a wonderful showcase for the art of both the storyteller and accomplished textile artist.’
