Mayor confirms key Appeal fundraising dates

Published on Tuesday, 24th August 2021

Fundraising volunteers working with Borough Mayor Cllr Rob Tromans will be out in Nuneaton town centre this weekend.

Borough Mayor Cllr Tromans has chosen Mary Ann Evans Hospice as his chosen charity this year for his Mayor’s Appeal.

And collectors will be in the town centre precinct from around 9.00am on Saturday 28 August, offering people the chance to support the local worthy cause.

Collectors will also be out and about in Bedworth town centre the following week, Saturday 4 September.

Cllr Tromans’ team has identified a series of key dates to boost their fundraising effort this year:

  • Saturday 2 October: Bulkington shops
  • Friday 19 November: Nuneaton Christmas lights switch on
  • Saturday 20 November: Bedworth Christmas lights switch on

A date has still to be set for a street collection at the Christmas lights switch on in Bulkington.

Borough Mayor Cllr Tromans appealed for local people to give generously to his Mayor’s Appeal. He said:

“This has been such a difficult time for so many people, but we are very fortunate to have such a dedicated organisation providing vital support for people just when they need it most.

“I hope people will find a way to give whatever they can this year to the Nuneaton and Bedworth Mayor’s Appeal. Every contribution will be sincerely appreciated.”

He also appealed for volunteers and fundraisers to get in touch offering help, support or fund-raising ideas.

“One of the features of the Mayor’s Appeal is that it is truly a chance for the whole community to get involved in supporting a great cause local to us all. So I want anyone with time to offer or great suggestions about fundraising to come forward and offer their services.”
