Talking about our towns: Forum to accelerate towns’ growth
Published on Tuesday, 29th June 2021
Borough council leaders are calling on businesses in Nuneaton and Bedworth to get involved in fresh discussions about the Borough’s two town centres and their future.
All businesses are invited to contribute ideas to a brand-new partnership, which the Borough Council aims to launch this summer.
Letters with full details on will be handed to all businesses in both town centres or they can register at www.nuneatonandbedworth.gov.uk/town-centres and will be invited to attend their business sectors virtual meeting.
Both Nuneaton and Bedworth town centres have already outlined major future development plans.
Council officers will provide updates on the key projects to date, while the new forum is intended to give business bosses a chance to supply their ideas, explain challenges facing their sector and ask questions of their own.
To kick off the fresh approach, the Council is establishing six initial ‘virtual’ meetings across the following sectors:
- Tuesday 6 July – Independent Retail
- Tuesday 13 July – National Retail
- Tuesday 3 August – Hospitality / Night-time economy & Leisure
- Wednesday 4 August – Commercial / Professional (solicitors, estate agents, accountants etc)
- Tuesday 10 August – Market Traders Steering Group
- Wednesday 11 August – Landlords
Nuneaton and Bedworth Borough Council leader Cllr Kristofer Wilson said:
“The new administration is keen to support, and be accessible to, the wide range of businesses across the Borough. As a starting point, we want to engage with business within the town centres to understand how we can improve the ways we are already working together to improve our towns.
“Eventually, we hope this will cement a brand new towns partnership through which we can make sure we listen to businesses about the barriers they face, as well as working with as many people as possible on the fresh ideas that are open to us.”
