NBBC marks International Elimination of Racial Discrimination Day

Published on Wednesday, 17th March 2021

This weekend, the Borough Council will light the Town Hall and Civic Hall purple to honour this day of international importance on 21 March.

The theme for 2021 is “Youth standing up against racism” which engages the public through #FightRacism. Calling on each and every one of us to stand up against racial prejudice and intolerant attitudes, the aim is to foster a global culture of tolerance, equality and anti-discrimination.

Councillor Julie Jackson, Leader of Nuneaton and Bedworth Borough Council said:

“We must all do what we can to help demolish racial prejudice and discrimination. Lighting up the Town Hall in Nuneaton and the Civic Hall in Bedworth is one small way to show our solidarity for this cause and raise awareness of these issues so we can all strive for a better, more united future.”
