More financial help for local businesses

Nuneaton and Bedworth Borough Council has announced more financial help for local businesses through the government’s COVID-19 grants schemes.

The government schemes have now been extended, and as a result the council is able to award businesses further financial support from the Local Restrictions Support Grant (Closed) Addendum and Additional Restriction Grant (ARG) schemes.

Already, around £6 million in grants has been made available to employers through these schemes.

Local Restriction Support Grant (National Lockdown)

These payments will be made from next week, direct to the businesses whose details are already held on the council’s systems as having received this payment previously. This means those business do not need to reapply.

The government has recently announced a second payment cycle for the Local Restrictions Support Grant (Closed) Addendum: 5 January onwards scheme. The second payment will be for a further 44 days for the period 16 February to 31 March 2021.

The scheme only applies to rated businesses mandated to close by the government during the national lockdown restrictions, and the following payments will apply:

  • If your business has a property with a rateable value of £15,000 or less, you may receive a grant of £2,096 for this 44-day qualifying restrictions period.
  • If your business has a property with a rateable value of over £15,000 and less than £51,000, you may receive a grant of £3,143 for this 44-day qualifying restrictions period.
  • If your business has a property with a rateable value of over £51,000 or less, you may receive a grant of £4,714 for this 44-day qualifying restrictions period.

Additional Restrictions Grant

Again, businesses that previously applied for this grant will receive a payment without needing to take any further action. The council is also able to grant further ARG payments, for the second National Lockdown period.

The council will start making these payments from next week, direct to the businesses who are eligible and held on the council’s system as having made an application.

The council is appealing to those business that have not made their application for this grant.

The closing date for complete applications is 28 February 2021.

“We have streamlined these payments for those who have already received a payment from us in previous grant rounds. I hope anyone eligible who hasn’t yet applied for the grants available to them does so very soon so we can get this support to them.”
