Football all ready for the kick-off
Published on Tuesday, 25th August 2020
Nuneaton and Bedworth Borough Council in partnership with Nuneaton and District Sunday Football League, is ready to commence the forthcoming football season on Sunday, 6 September.
Following ongoing liaison with the Football League Chairman and Secretary, the Council also supported friendly fixtures that took place on Council owned pitches on Sunday, 23 August, and are due to support again this forthcoming Sunday.
Following the Government guidelines and ensuring that social distancing is in place, only authorised games can take place on Council pitches. No other formal training or fixtures are allowed by any Club, unless booked through the Councils Parks team. This way we can meet the track and trace information required and ensure we can account for Clubs using the football pitches across the Borough. Any Football Team/Clubs that are found to be using Council pitches without first going through the Council could forgo using any future Council pitches/ facilities for the forthcoming season.
We ask that all Teams / Clubs help us support the new forthcoming season and work with us.
Ian Lloyd, Portfolio for Arts and Leisure, said:
"I am pleased that we can support the forthcoming football season in early September and work with the Football League in making this happen, with measures in place to meet the necessary Government guidelines.
"However, we need all clubs and teams to play their part and ensure they pre book pitches in advance to support social distancing at sites.
"Any unauthorised use will be followed up and sanctions placed upon clubs or teams found to be abusing the system.
"We have worked hard with the League to put measures in place to support local football and ensure a safe environment for authorised football delivery.
"Good luck to all those local clubs and teams taking part in the new season and I look forward to seeing you in our local parks and recreational grounds."
League Chairman Andy Baggott said:
“We fully support Nuneaton & Bedworth Borough Council and will always work closely with them in following their guidelines regarding the use of Council pitches and facilities.
“We are in challenging times and it is vital that we all work together to follow these guidelines to ensure we all stay safe and enjoy our return to playing football.
"We have always had, through our fixtures secretary Paul Bliss, an excellent working relationship with Nuneaton & Bedworth Borough Council, something of which we are proud and determined to preserve.”
Everyone Active administer the bookings for all pitches via an online booking system.
