The Annual Canvass 2020
Published on Friday, 21st August 2020
The elections office at Nuneaton and Bedworth Borough Council will be conducting the annual canvass from the week commencing Monday 24 August.
This is a chance for you to have your say on decisions that affect you in future, by ensuring your electoral registration details are up to date.
With elections taking place in May 2021, this is an important opportunity for residents to make sure they take part. It’s also a chance for NBBC to identify any residents who aren’t already registered so that they can be encouraged to do so.
Simone Hines, Executive Director at Nuneaton and Bedworth Borough Council said:
“It is really important for residents in the Borough to keep a look out for the annual canvass communications that will be sent out so they don’t miss out on their chance to have their say.
“We would like all residents who are entitled to take part in the annual canvass to clarify their details or take this opportunity to register if they haven’t already. Once we receive your updated registration details, this will ensure that your voice will be heard in future elections and referendums.”
Recent home movers are particularly encouraged to look out for the voter registration messages from Nuneaton and Bedworth Borough Council and check their details.
Research carried out by the Electoral Commission indicated that people who have moved location recently are a lot less likely to be registered, compared to residents who have lived at their address for a longer period of time.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, ensuring you provide the required information to the Council will also help avoid any home visits from canvassers.
