Everyone Active’s swimming pools across Nuneaton and Bedworth, managed in partnership with Nuneaton and Bedworth Borough Council are set to reopen in August.

After being closed for almost five months due to coronavirus and following the successful reopening of gyms last month, Bedworth Leisure Centre and Pingles Leisure Centre will reopen their pools for bookable lane swimming on August 22. Swimming lessons will also commence on this date.

The Government update on 9 July confirmed leisure facilities were now safe to reopen, with strict operational measures in place. A variety of measures have been introduced across the facilities. These include booking in advance for sessions and fewer lessons within the pool at any one time, to allow for both children and swimming teachers to social distance. Lesson times will be staggered so there will be fewer classes starting and finishing at the same time and only one parent/guardian is asked to attend with a child, to reduce the number of people in the centre. Full details on Everyone Active’s reopening measures can be found here.

Joe Warren, Everyone Active’s contract manager said:

“After a successful reopening of our gyms, we’re pleased to take the next step in our phased reopening plan and get everyone active in our swimming pools again!

“Ensuring we maintain a safe environment for our colleagues and customers is our number one priority and we have carefully considered the strict measurements to ensure we adhere to the guidance. We encourage visitors to read through the changes we are making so we can maintain a safe environment for everyone.

“Thank you to everyone for their patience during this time.”

Cllr Ian Lloyd, Portfolio Holder for Arts and Leisure said:

“It is great to finally see the reopening of our swimming pools. As with the gyms, I have every confidence that Everyone Active are taking all the precautions necessary to ensure the safety of the staff and users. Please, as Joe says, take the time to read the changes they are making and familiarise yourself with the new routines so that everyone can stay safe.”
