Nuneaton and Bedworth Local Dementia Action Alliance
Local and county-wide organisations who work in support of people living with dementia have come together to form a local alliance in Nuneaton and Bedworth with the aim of creating a more dementia-friendly borough. The new Nuneaton and Bedworth Dementia Action Alliance (N&BDAA) got underway on Friday, 6 October 2017 when it was officially launched by the Mayor of Nuneaton and Bedworth, Councillor Bill Hancox.
The purpose of the alliance is to focus closely on the issues affecting people living with dementia, including their carers, within the borough and work closely to help co-ordinate the work of agencies and local organisations in supporting people living with dementia. It wants to raise awareness amongst the public about dementia, which is affecting more and more people as the population continues to live longer. The alliance wants to promote information about how the risk of dementia in later life can be significantly reduced by adopting healthier lifestyles including healthy eating and exercise.
The alliance is now seeking to expand its membership and especially wants to engage local businesses as members. The more groups and organisations that are involved - the bigger the impact on improving the lives of people living with dementia.
