Adopted supplementary planning documents

Following the adoption of the Nuneaton and Bedworth Borough Plan in June 2019, a number of supplementary planning documents (SPDs) have been adopted. These documents provide additional detail and guidance to the Borough Plan policies.

Following public consultation in June 2021 and subsequent approval at the February 2022 Full Council meeting, the SPDs below were adopted as council guidance on 15 February 2022.

  • Transport Demand Management Matters - Parking Standards SPD
  • Conservation Area Appraisal and Management Plan SPDs comprising:
    • Abbey Conservation Area Appraisal and Management Plan SPD
    • Bedworth Conservation Area Appraisal and Management Plan SPD
    • Bulkington Conservation Area Appraisal and Management Plan SPD
    • Hawkesbury Junction Conservation Area Appraisal and Management Plan SPD
    • Nuneaton Town Centre Conservation Area Appraisal and Management Plan SPD

Copies of these adopted SPDs, the associated adoption statements and other supporting information are available in our document downloads section. Hard copies of the documents are also available for public inspection by appointment at Nuneaton Town Hall, Coton Road, Nuneaton CV11 5AA. Please call 024 7637 6376 to book an appointment.

Anyone aggrieved by the adoption of the SPDs may apply to the High Court for permission to apply for judicial review of that decision. Any such application must be made promptly and in any event no later than three months after the date on which the SPD was adopted.

The following SPDs have also been adopted as Council guidance.

  • Affordable Housing SPD
  • Air Quality SPD
  • Concept Plan SPDs (for each of the strategic housing and employment allocations)
  • Health Impact Assessment SPD
  • Planning for a Healthier Area - Hot Food Takeaways SPD
  • Open Space and Green Infrastructure SPD comprising:
    • Introduction
    • Part A – Householder applications and developments up to 9 dwellings
    • Part B – Developments of 10 dwellings or more
    • Part C – Supported living developments
    • Part D – Commercial and industrial developments
    • Appendix 1 – Detailed design standards for publicly accessible compliant greenspace
  • Sustainable Design and Construction SPD

The Affordable Housing SPD formally superseded and replaced the 2007 Affordable Housing SPD, and the Sustainable Design and Construction SPD formally superseded and replaced the Residential Design Guide 2004.
