Supplementary Planning Documents (SPD) and Statement of Community Involvement (SCI) consultation

Nuneaton and Bedworth Borough Council undertook an eight week public consultation on the following planning policy documents from Friday, 8 January 2021 to Friday, 5 March 2021.

Health Impact Assessment Supplementary Planning Document (SPD)

This document provides supplementary guidance to Policy HS5 of the Borough Plan. It provides the framework for assessing health impacts from all new major developments proposals in the Borough. It will also aid developers submitting planning applications for large scale developments.

Open Space and Green Infrastructure SPD

This document provides supplementary guidance to policies NE1, NE2 and NE3 of the Borough Plan. It provides additional guidance in relation to open space, parks and play provision, ecology/biodiversity, trees, allotments, and green corridors.

Statement of Community Involvement (SCI)

This explains how the community and other stakeholders can become involved in the planning process.

Officers are now considering all of the comments received, responding to the issues raised and finalising the documents. It is expected that the finalised documents, and issues raised, will be considered at the Cabinet meeting on the 26th May 2021. If approved, the SPDs and SCI would then require adoption at Full Council.

If you require further information in relation to the consultation, contact the Planning Policy team on 024 7637 6328.

Sustainability Appraisal (SA) Scoping Reports

The Council has also begun work on the Borough Plan Review and a Gypsy and Traveller Site Allocations DPD. In accordance with Government guidance, a Sustainability Appraisal (SA) Scoping Report is required to set the context, objectives, establish a baseline and decide on the scope of the plans. The Council was required to consult the three main consultation bodies - the Environment Agency, Historic England and Natural England and that five week consultation was held between Friday, 5 February 2021 and Friday, 12 March 2021.

Again, officers are now considering the comments received and this will inform the development of the two DPDs, as well as their future Sustainability Appraisal.
