Anti-Social Behaviour - Community Trigger

New measures have been put in place from October 2014 under the Anti Social Behaviour, Crime and Policing Act 2014, which are designed to give victims and communities a say in the way anti social behaviour is dealt with: 

The Community Trigger gives victims and communities the ability to request a review of their case and bring together agencies to take a joined up, problem solving approach to find a solution. 

If you have reported anti-social behaviour and you feel that insufficient action has been taken to resolve the matter, tell us about it under the Community Trigger. 

Criteria for a Community Trigger:

  • You have reported three separate incidents relating to the same problem in the past six months to the Council, Police or your Landlord, and feel that insufficient action has been taken to resolve the matter,
  • or; At least five people have made reports about the same problem in the past six months to the Council, Police or your landlord and feel that insufficient action has been taken to resolve the matter.

Contact the Communities Team at the Borough Council with your name and contact details. Provide details about the problem you have reported previously, and why you feel that insufficient action has been taken to resolve the problem. Please supply enough information to help us assess if the threshold for a review has been met. 

This can include the following: 

Your name
Your telephone number
Your email address
Your address
What anti-social behaviour problem you have reported previously
Provide details of incidents you have reported and to which organisation e.g. dates, times.
Provide any further comments you wish to make to support your request for a review
Also please indicate whether you give consent for your information to be shared with other relevant partners including the Police.
The information you provide will help us determine if a review is appropriate, or if any other option to help resolve the problem needs to be considered. 

You should receive an acknowledgement of receipt of your request within five working days. A reply to your request will normally be answered within 28 working days. In some circumstances the request will need to be considered with other responsible authorities and may take longer. If this is the case you will be advised of the delay and kept updated on progress. 

Appeals process 
If applicants are not satisfied with the outcome of a review into their case, or the decision that they did not meet the trigger threshold, they have a right of appeal. 

For cases in Nuneaton and Bedworth appeals should be made to the Office of the Police and Crime Commissioner (OPCC).
