Alcohol and entertainment licensing
Pavement licence
The Business and Planning Act 2020 has been introduced to streamline the process for premises to apply for a street furniture or table and chair licence, known as a Pavement Licence under this new Act. This is a temporary licensing regime and applies until September 2021.
For comparison, the current process to apply for a tables and chairs Licence is managed by Warwickshire County Council and takes 28 days for consultation plus processing time, which varies depending on the complexity of the application - The new process will take 10 working days.
The legislation received Royal Assent on the 22nd July 2020 and we are working hard to perfect the application process along with information on how to apply and how much it will cost.
Details about how to apply will be advertised on our website as soon as we possibly can.
In the meantime please read thoroughly the Government Guidance and start to collate the following information (electronically) as you will need to submit this along with your application and upon payment of an online fee.
- A copy of your public liability insurance certificate (minimum of £5 million cover)
- A plan or sketch of the proposed area (including dimensions of the area and showing the position of furniture and other items, within the proposed space)
- A sample or colour photograph of the furniture, barriers, outdoor heaters litter bins (if to be used)
