Applying for Housing Benefit and Council Tax Support

Housing Benefit 

Housing Benefit is a means tested benefit and the amount you receive will depend on your personal circumstances.

You can only claim Housing Benefit if:

  • You have reached State Pension Age
  • You have 3 or more children
  • You live in specified supported or temporary accommodation (if you are unsure please contact the Benefits Section on 02476 376514 )

If your circumstances do not match one or more of the above, you must apply for Universal Credit.

If you receive Universal Credit, you can apply for Council Tax Support to help pay your Council Tax.

Council Tax Support

Council Tax Support is a means tested benefit and the amount you receive will depend on your personal circusmtances.

You can apply for Council Tax Support to help pay for the Council Tax for the home you live in.

How to Claim

Apply online to make your claim for Housing Benefit and/or Council Tax Support.

We are switching to our new online form on 4th November 2018.  If you start an application form today please ensure you submit it before 4th November 2018.

You can also use this online claim form if you are a pensioner and wish to apply for second adult rebate.
