What happens to your money

You pay your Council Tax to Nuneaton and Bedworth Borough Council, but we only keep 13.2% of it. The rest is shared between Warwickshire County Council (75%) and Warwickshire Office of the Police and Crime Commissioner, who take the remaining 11.8%.

The 13.2% of your Council Tax payment that Nuneaton and Bedworth Borough Council takes for 2018-19, will provide the following services:

  • over 4 million bins emptied every year
  • 50% of household waste recycled
  • 1,400 streets cleaned each month
  • 115 CCTV cameras for the benefit of community safety
  • 500 inspection visits to food premises to ensure cleanliness and safety
  • award winning markets plus street entertainment
  • Christmas lights in the town centres
  • support for the Civic bonfires
  • four leisure centres offering top class facilities
  • continued investment into homelessness prevention

In addition:

  • we provide advice on benefits
  • we invest in the future economic development of our Borough
  • 80% of our suppliers are small to medium sized businesses
  • we support local sports clubs in acquiring external funding

Nuneaton and Bedworth  Borough Council, Warwickshire County Council and Warwickshire Office of the Police and Crime Commissioner each produce a leaflet every March, detailing their spending plans for the forthcoming financial year.  The following documents provide details relating to the current financial period:
