Graffiti and the law
- Report graffiti
Unauthorised graffiti spoils the street scene and diminishes the desirability of an area.
- Re-occurring tags found with graffiti are recorded and investigated by the Enviro Enforcement team
- If found guilty, graffiti carries a fine of up to, and sometimes over £5000 as part of the criminal damage act
- If caught in the act, the responsible person can also be given an on-the-spot fixed penalty notice of £75 as part of the Clean Neighbourhoods and Environment Act 2005
