What can I put in my recycle bin?

Remember: wash and squash items before recycling and separate your cardboard and paper from the rest of your recyclables.

  • Foil
  • Tins
  • Drinks cans
  • Glass bottles and jars
  • Fruit/mushroom punnets
  • Aerosols
  • Non-black plastic bottles and tubs
  • Handwash pumps
  • Milk bottles
  • Margarine tubs
  • Shampoo and conditioner bottles
  • Yoghurt pots
  • Lids off jars

Containers insert:

  • Newspapers
  • Cardboard
  • Phone books
  • Envelopes
  • Magazines and catalogues
  • Shredded paper (wrapped in newspaper, put in a cardboard box or in a paper bag)
  • Toilet roll tubes
  • Egg boxes (cardboard)

If you can’t recycle it at home

It’s important to remember that even if an item is not recyclable within your household collection, it may be somewhere else. Use recycle now's recycling locator to find out where you can recycle other items not accepted in your kerbside recycling.
