What can I put in my black bin?
Your black bin should only be used for items which are non-recyclable in your other household collections.
Non-recyclable items include:
- Food waste (if you aren't signed up to the green bin scheme)
- Plant pots
- Toothpaste tubes/pumps
- Pens
- CD/DVD cases
- Screw top lids
- Melamine picnicware (i.e. plastic picnic cutlery)
- Materials contaminated by food which cannot be washed
- Polythene (very thin plastic i.e. plastic film)
- Polystyrene
- Crisp packets
- Plastic carrier bags
- Cling film
- Disposable nappies (consider using real nappies)
- Rigid (very hard) plastics
- Wrapping paper
Help us to give you the best possible service
- Present your bin by 7.00am
- Retrieve bin within 24 hours of collection
- Avoid non-collection by putting correct items in each bin
- Contain all items within the bin
- Bins cannot be collected if too heavy
- Request an additional black bin (please read requirements beforehand)
