What happens to my green waste
Green waste is collected and sent on to a giant composting facility, organic waste is put through a process which heats and biodegrades the waste, eventually creating rich compost which is distributed to local farmers
The compost may be used to grow crops, which is why it is extremely important that incorrect items such as animal faeces are not within the organic waste; omnivores (humans, cats, dogs etc.) produce waste that harbours harmful bacteria, things that would make us sick if our food were to come into close contact with it.
Composting green waste is extremely beneficial to the environment and goes on naturally all around us.
