Business support grants

With government announcement throughout the year there are several ways businesses can receive support through grants.

Businesses are able to claim more than one grant from the following, if they fall under the criteria set for each grant.  Check your eligibility for a grant.

Restart Grant (RG) - Application is Closed 

The Restart Grant will support non-essential retail premises with one-off grants of up to £6,000 and hospitality, accommodation, leisure, personal care and gym or sport business premises (Strand Two) with one-off grants of up to £18,000.

The policy is now available for you to read, please ensure you have read this prior to your application so you are aware of all the criterion to be able to claim the Restart Grant.

Additional Restrictions Support Grant (ARG) - Application Closed 30 June 2021

The application process closed on 30th June 2021

In light of the delay to moving to Step 4 of the Government’s Roadmap, the Council is targeting further support through the Additional Restrictions Grant for those most impacted by current COVID restrictions. These are companies in the following business sectors or their supply chains:

  • Exhibitions/Events businesses
  • Weddings and Venues that are severely affected by the 4 week delay of the easing of lockdown restrictions (due to end 19th July 2021)
  • Independent Travel Agencies

A Hardship Payment of up to £5k will be provided to companies in these sectors, upon completion of the application form with required supporting information and satisfactory pre-payment checks.

This is a disretionary grant, with a limited budget.  It is to cover up to the end of 2022.  The policy is set by each Local Authority and you can find Nuneaton and Bedworth Policy here.  Please read the policy to ensure you fall under the criteria before you make your application for this grant.

Local Restrictions Support Grant LRSG) - Application Closed 31 March 2021

This is available to businesses that are NOT mandated to close in Tier 3 or in Tier 2, but they have proven to be severely impacted. There are different levels of payment based on the rateable value of the business. It is a payment for every full 14-day period the district remains in the restriction. Christmas Support Payment (CSP Wet-Led Pubs) - Application Closed 28 February 2021

This is a payment for pubs in Tier 3 and Tier 2 restricted area where food is less than 50% of their income. The period runs 2 December 2020 to 29 December 2020. There is a one-off payment of £1000. We will be accepting applications up to and including 28 February 2021. Please follow the link to read the policy to ensure you read the criteria before you make your application for this grant. 

Tier 4 - Application Closed 31 March 2021

Nuneaton and Bedworth was placed under Tier 4 restrictions from 31 December 2020. For financial assistance under Tier 4, all those who have already applied for support through the existing LRSG and ARG schemes do not need to re-apply. Applications will be assessed against all of the grant schemes in place and appropriate awards made. Should we require further information from you, we will be in contact with you in due course. Closed Businesses Lockdown Payment - Application Closed 31 March 2021

Businesses who receive a Non-Domestic Rates Bill that are entitled to Local Restriction Support Grant (closed) for the period 5 January to 15 February 2021 will also be entitled to a one off additional Closed Business Lockdown Payment.

This is only for businesses that have been required to close from 5th January 2021 due to the introduction of national restrictions.  This includes non-essential retail, leisure, personal care, sports facilities and hospitality businesses.

The amount of award will be based on the size of the business premises using the rateable value of the property:

  • properties with a rateable value of £15,000 or under will receive £4,000
  • properties with a rateable value over £15,000 and less than £51,000 will receive £6,000
  • properties with a rateable value of £51,000 or over will receive £9,000
