Public Health - Drainage

The Council offers a private sewer clearing service for householders which is subject to a charge. This service is designed for one-off blockages, not recurring problems.
 
Warwickshire County Council (Highways) are responsible for maintaining highway drainage.

The service includes emergency maintenance of watercourses on Council owned land including clearing obstructions, investigating flooding and pollution. Advice in respect of drainage of private land. Maintenance of control structures of balancing lakes and watercourses.
 
Although the responsibility for cleaning obstructed drains and private sewers lies with the owner(s), the Council does offer a private sewer clearing service for householders which is subject to a charge. This service is designed for one-off blockages, not recurring problems.
 
If there is a recurrence of the problem, the Council will investigate the cause and seek to get it rectified.
 
However, the private sewer clearing service does not include unblocking sink and waste pipes or simple W.C. obstructions.


 How to Apply for the Drainage Service 

  • Please contact us or use the online service from this page.
  • Please provide the property address together with your contact details.
  • NBBC will provide service to domestic properties only within the Borough
  • Fixed fee of £71.70.  Property owner will be invoiced this amount after the work
  • Property owner contacted to confirm date of job.
 

Conditions

  • Blocked drains on private property are the responsibility of the householder/landowner.  
  • If you have a problem with waste water and sewage drains your Local Water Authority will need to be contacted.
