Abandoned Vehicles

Vehicles abandoned on any land in the open air will be investigated and removed. The permission of the landowner is required before abandoned vehicles can be removed from private land.

For vehicles causing an obstruction to the highway or suspected of being stolen contact the Police on 024 7664 1111.
The local council will investigate any vehicles reported as abandoned on local roads or property (usually including private property). The vehicle will be removed if it is legally abandoned or if it is more than 28 days out of tax and is located on the public highway.  
 

How to report

  • Complete the online form to notify us - please provide as much detail as possible.
  • Alternatively call the Warwickshire Hotline above.
  • If there is a safety risk, Warwickshire Police will be contacted to deal with the issue.
  • Otherwise the Council will check and deal with the abandoned vehicle appropriately.
 

10 Ways to Spot an Abandoned Car

  1. Does it look vandalised and/or fire damaged?
  2. Does it look unused and in poor condition?
  3. Is there a valid tax disc?
  4. Does it look like it's been in a road traffic accident?
  5. Has it been parked or abandoned in an isolated or unusual location?
  6. Have parts been removed or damaged? (e.g. broken windows, flat tyres)
  7. Are the wheels or petrol cap missing?
  8. Is it in a known area for abandoned vehicles?
  9. Have you seen anybody use it or act suspiciously around it?
  10. Has it been there for over a week?
