The A444 Spring Clean

Nuneaton and Bedworth Borough Council Crest
The Council will be conducting a litter pick along the A444 from Tuesday 15th February until Thursday 17th February. The litter pick will be from College Street roundabout, up to the Ricoh Island.  One lane will be closed to road users whilst the cleansing is carried out.

Car litter is a common problem along this stretch of road and the Council is asking residents and road users to be vigilant with their litter.  Litter bins have been placed in the lay-bys along the A444 for road users to use, however accumulation of litter is a major problem in this area.

The Council’s Enviro Enforcement team has now got the powers to take action against those who litter and asks road users to come forward with details if they witness anyone littering from a car. The Council hopes that by introducing Enforcement procedures the litter problem will reduce.

Councillor Bill Sheppard, Portfolio Holder for the Environment, said:
“There has been a major issue with the litter accumulation along the A444 for some time which not only uses tax payers’ money to clean, but is also very unsightly for Nuneaton and Bedworth residents and visitors to the town.  Hopefully, road users will now come forward with details of cars that are littering so we can deter future littering along this stretch of road.”

For more information about the litter pick and lane closures or to report a car litter offence, please contact the Council on 024 7637 6170.
