Spring Garden Competition – Winners announced

Judging for the Spring Garden Competition launched by Nuneaton and Bedworth Borough Council has now been completed, with the route taking the judges to all parts of the Borough.  Judging day was Wednesday 4^th April with the weather being warm and sunny this enabled the gardens to look their best.

 

Traditionally the gardens in this competition are based on colourful winter and spring bedding plants, but this year the gardens were much more varied with shrubs and trees playing a major part.

 

Councillor Tony Lloyd, Cabinet Member for Culture and Recreation said today

 

“The variety of design in the gardens, along with the increase in entrants lead the judges to introduce new categories for large and small gardens as the standard of entrants was extremely impressive.  I would like to offer my thanks and congratulations to all those who entered for the extra effort put in in making this a competition to remember.”

A selection of photos from the competition will be displayed at the Miners’ Welfare Park Nursery Open day on Saturday 19^th May.

 

The results are as follows:

 

1^st place – Mrs Houghton of Nuneaton Road, Bulkington

2^nd place – Richard and Julie Chaplain of Fifield Close, Nuneaton

3^rd place – Mr Smith of Bulkington Lane, Nuneaton

 

1^st place – Mr Dunk of Topps Heath, Bedworth

joint 2^nd place – Jill Staude of Somers Road, Keresley End

joint 2^nd place – Mrs Lanigan of Astley Lane, Bedworth

3^rd place – Ann Johnson of Magyar Crescent, Nuneaton
