MP hosts French Exchange visit

Town Twinning

This February’s French Exchange programme is well under way with students visiting Nuneaton and Bedworth in addition to participating in a range of social and cultural activities. The visitors together with their teachers, arrived from Roanne our twin town in France, on Friday of last week and are all being hosted by local families.

Twinning Officer at the Council Tim Norton pointed out:

“During their stay they will be able to improve on their English language skills, sample wholesome hospitality and take in places of local and regional interest. The opportunity to spend time with host families in invaluable to their language development and our students speak highly of the benefits they gain on the return trip in October.”

On Monday, the host and visiting students together with some host families made the trip to London which included, shopping in Covent Garden, a coach sight seeing tour of the main sights, a walking tour that took in the National Gallery, Trafalgar Square, The Mall, Whitehall, Horse Guards Parade, 10 Downing Street and of course the highlight of the trip, a guided tour of the Palace of Westminster hosted by local MP Bill Olner.

Following the visitors were then taken on a night river trip on the Thames before commencing the journey home.  Other activities during the stay include a bowling competition at Lakeside, a social evening for all host families and a Civic send off on Monday, 19 February when the students begin their return journey home.
